Miracles

"Is not the most helpful way to approach the gospel miracles to place them within the familiar and inescapable tension between the already and the not yet, kingdom come and kingdom coming, the new age inaugurated and the new age consummated? To the skeptical (who doubt all miracles), I want to say "but already we have tasted the powers of the age to come." To the creduloud (who think that healing miracles are everyday occurrence), I want to say "but not yet have we been given resurrection bodies free from disease, pain, infirmity, handicap, and death." - John R.W. Stott

"God does not sell Himself into the hands of religious magicians. I do not believe in that kind of miracles. I believe in the kind of miracles that God gives to His people who live so close to Him that answers to prayer are common and these miracles are not uncommon." -A.W. Tozer

Life

Hello all, I know I haven't blogged in a while. It's been a crazy, crazy world. Jeremiah and I were sick off and on, usually on, from just before Christmas to now. In the midst of this I'm dealing with the creeping fear of being unemployed in less than a year due to my boss being term-limited. Throw in a leak in our house's roof (hidden by the prior owners by sponges. SPONGES!), a car accident Jeremiah was in, and then my car suddenly deciding that accerating really wasn't its thing and it all led to a little mental breakdown on Saturday.

However, it turns out that the roof might be covered by the home warranty on our house, the car accident was on the car that DID have collison (only paid the $1000 deductible), my car only needed new spark plugs, and both Jeremiah and I are healthy AT THE SAME TIME! Life is good. I am still worried about the unemployment in December, but I've updated my resume and I am starting to search. It seems that there are some jobs out there, which is heartening. Working in politics, all I hear about are the businesses leaving...

I have been reading Terry Prachett, which means my wacky sense of humor is slowing creeping up on me again....
